Deep Breaths Can’t Breathe In London
Ben Hajioff
Air pollution has to do with privilege. As a disabled and neurodivergent musician who lives in supported housing, I know what it feels like to not have privilege. I live in London and experience the daily pollution. I have created a soundtrack in my bedroom.
The idea is to invite audiences to click on a QR code that takes them to the soundtrack on my soundcloud or listen on headphones to an MP3 track.
My music is for all the people who have died of air pollution, who struggle with inequalities and who might be disadvantaged and marginalised like me.
Enough is enough.
My soundtrack invites people to get the political message that art helps to combat and challenge inequalities through rhythm and whistle. I decided to do the lyrics freestyle because I like to verbally stim and create live.
When my body feels social justice, it needs to sing.
